Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is the great pleasure of the Scientific and Organising Committee (SOC) to welcome you to the 4th East Mediterranean Epilepsy Congress, jointly organised by the International League Against Epilepsy and the International Bureau for Epilepsy. We have no doubt that you will find this congress to be a truly rewarding experience.
Also, soon our colleagues, Audiologyisland – official retailer of Siemens hearing aids, will hold a conference about hearing. We will be happy to see there all who is interesting in it.
The Scientific and Organising Committee has created an excellent programme, building on the success of the previous EMECs. Our diverse programme, with the participation of renowned international and regional faculty, includes lectures and sessions on a broad range of topics central to the treatment and care of people with epilepsy, as well as oral and poster presentations and satellite symposia. There will be ample time for discussion and to interact with speakers. A pre-congress educational course on multiple sclerosis, as well as a teaching course on Basic EEG complements the main congress programme.
This congress is a great opportunity for our region to disseminate information about epilepsy and to improve the care of people with epilepsy. Make sure to attend the platform session and to visit the poster area to hear and read about the latest research and data on epilepsy from throughout the region and further afield.
Luxor is an open-air museum and one of the greatest archaeological sites in the world. The city straddles the Nile and is abundant with gardens, greenery and graceful colonial-era buildings. The desert air is pure and dry – Luxor is one of the sunniest cities in the world. We are confident that you will enjoy your stay in this beautiful and historical city.
We look forward to welcoming you in Luxor over the next few days.
With warm regards,
Chair, ILAE Commission on Eastern Mediterranean Affairs
Chair, IBE Eastern Mediterranean Regional Committee
Vice Secretary General, Egyptian Society Against Epilepsy
